Marijuana rescheduling is changing the compliance landscape. Do you understand the new risks and opportunities?

At the end of 2025, federal marijuana policy shifted dramatically with the reclassification of medical marijuana from a Schedule 1 to a Schedule 3 drug. This webinar will explain the impacts this historic move may have on banking, compliance, and HR operations. Participants will learn how to evaluate and manage risks when serving licensed marijuana operators before the SAFER Banking Act takes effect and review the implications for internal policies, testing, and employee accommodations.

  • How historic marijuana rescheduling does — and does not — impact financial institutions
  • Cannabis banking risks post-rescheduling and pre-SAFER Banking Act
  • How reclassification affects your marijuana policy and procedures

  • Marijuana Rules: Guidelines for Creating Effective Cannabis Policy & Procedures

WEBINAR DETAILS

At year-end 2025, the long-awaited rescheduling of marijuana took a big step forward when President Trump signed an executive order reclassifying medical marijuana from a Schedule 1 drug (on par with heroin) to a Schedule 3 drug (comparable to Tylenol® with Codeine No. 3). Once enshrined as law, the historic rescheduling of medical marijuana will favorably impact the cannabis industry — and potentially could improve licensed marijuana operators’ access to financial institutions’ products and services.

This webinar will explore how to assess and manage risks associated with providing products and services to the cannabis industry post-rescheduling and pre-SAFER Banking Act. Learn what rescheduling means (or does not mean) for your financial institution’s marijuana policy, testing, terminations, accommodations, and other HR and business issues.
